MDUSD High School Sports Dependent on Parent Contributions

It is important to note that only Fall high school sports have been approved at this time.  MDUSD high school sports (including the upcoming Winter and Spring seasons) will continue only if the revenue collected from parent contributions and the funds raised by the United Mt. Diablo Athletic Foundation meet or exceed the costs the MDUSD incurs for high school athletics.  Winter and Spring sports this school year will be in serious jeopardy if families with athletes playing a Fall sport do not pay their contributions timely.

The MDUSD approved the following contribution per sport (excluding transportation fees) from each athlete for the 2009-10 school year.  These fees cover costs previously funded by the MDUSD, such as a set number of coaches per sport, facilities, officials, team stipends/dues, and athletic dept services.  Consistent with prior years, water polo, golf and lacrosse (and other partially funded sports) will establish and collect their additional sports participation fees separately.  There is a $600 maximum expense per family per year excluding transportation and team fees.

The above contributions/fees can be paid either by check (made out to “CVHS”) or via the web store at www.mdusd.k12.ca.us/claytonvalley/  The amounts on the web store are 4% higher to cover the finance/transaction fees.  Checks must be given to the school treasurer.

Parents need to pay these Fall sports contributions for the benefit of all Clayton Valley athletes.  Questions related to this issue should be directed to the athlete’s coach or Pat Middendorf , Athletic Director.
